Hi everybody,

I have an item that I cannot delete because it says it's on Purchase Order. We do not have the PO module so I'm curious how that happens. Is there any way I can alter this status so that I can edit or remove the item?

thanks
Lucas

If your item file was originally created in another accounting system, it had a purchase order subsystem within its Inventory Control that might have set this figure. Your Adagio consultant likely has a tool that will be able to set this number to zero.

That's the funny part, we migrated from ACCPAC which also never had a PO module.

Anyway, I'd love to get my hands on said tool. I'm my own consultant but have never needed/heard of such a tool.

Anybody know where I can get it?

Accpac Plus Inventory Control had a function to create POs. Likely from there an unresolved purchase order existed prior to using Adagio Inventory.

Chat with your Adagio consultant about GridView Read/Write. It has the ability of changing data values, but can cause havoc with data if not used correctly. It should really only be used by people experienced in the data structure and knowing the full effects of making changes.

Yes - that was the system I was referring to - and it had a Purchase Order subsystem in the Inventory Control module from version 6.1 onwards. If you have Accpac Plus Inventory Control V6.5 you can probably clear the "on PO" count. Please make sure you test this on a backup copy of your data first and have a clrear understanding of the relationships between the Adagio modules before trying this. Adagio Inventory is no longer directly compatible with Accpac Plus.

Like I mentioned, I don't have a consultant due to a special relationship. As well, I have Gridview but have zero desire to pay for a new module just to edit one item. There has to be a one-off way to do this.

Yeah, I don't still have ACCPAC installed. This was at least three years ago that we changed it up.

Items cannot be deleted if a quantity exists for it.

If you want a free solution, make the item inactive and with version 8.1C of Inventory, you can hide inactive items from finders and reports. The item is still there but less visible.

Lucas:
I can understand that you don't want to purchase GridView R-W to solve one situation (though there are probably other Items with a quantity on PO). I don't know what "special relationship" means exactly but there are a number of dealers who will clean up your data at a much lower cost than purchasing GV R-W. You could contact Softrak and ask for one in your area.

If in fact you were using ACCPAC Plus Inventory Control w/Purchase Order v6.5A then likely you could have any number of incomplete (open) purchase orders that your consultant should have advised you to clean up before implementing Adagio, as Adagio does not have a purchase order function built in like this version of ACCPAC Plus did.

If yoiu have deleted your ACCPAC Plus install then you have no means of cleaning this up now and there is no free fix, just a work around as Softrak SUpport suggests.

As you are likley going to run into this more and more as time goes on the best recommendation is to have either Softrak or on of the professional Adagio consulting firms in your area assist you by removing all orphaned PO records from your database. This would be much cheaper than purchasing GridView Read-Write.

As my firm is in your area please feel free to call us if you would like further assistacne. My phone number is (604) 534-4344 extension 223.
