I am attempting to import budget data into Ledger 9.0B and am having no luck. I have tried .csv and .xls files but neither are working. It looks as though the data is importing but the budgets are just zero. I am using Excel 2007 and have saved both an .xls file and .csv file, neither are importing properly. I have tried ensuring the account and dept are text and the period budget data is number formatting but the .csv will not save this formatting, it turns it all to 'general'. Maybe the formatting is the issue but it won't stick so I am not sure what to do. I have tried a number of things to no avail.

Ready to pull my hair out... I thought this would be easier than manual entry but it is turning into a big time waster. Please help!

The fiscal year is set on the import template when importing budgets, on the 'Field defaults' tab. Perhaps you are importing budgets to a different fiscal year than you intended to?

If you want to see the expected 'format', then use the Export Budgets function to create the XLS or CSV file. Only export the account, department and 12 (13) period budgets, not the fiscal year.

This is normally a very easy task. The problem is figuring out what you are doing wrong. If you did not change the default fiscal year in the import template then this may be your problem, otherwise this may be one of those situations where an ADagio expert could help you out in a very short period of time.

Hi, Sage,

It seems there is a problem with importing budgets in 9.0B and I have reported the issue to R&D.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Thank you! Good to know I am not crazy! smile

Can you update on what the ETA would be on this fix? I'd like to judge whether I should just do it manually or wait for the fix.

Hello Support:

This thread gave me cause for concern so I tested on my own computer. The Budget import worked correctly.

-Ledger 9.0B (090713)
-Both Budgets & Forecasts worked
-The Excel file was created by Exporting the Budget
-Then it was edited with Excel and re-imported.

I just tried it again. Exporting the data (which is how I did it before) changing some data in the export and then importing the .csv file back into the Ledger. It runs as if it has imported correctly and verifies the import, letting me know how many records were imported and yet when I check the budget data, all records are zero.

I have tried clearing all data (which is why my budget data is zero) and then importing as well as adding some budgets in manually, exporting that and then importing (just to test it), no matter how I try, it won't overwrite what is already there.

I am also using Ledger 9.0B (090713).

The problem occurred when the start of the Fiscal Year was not January 1st.

Hi Michael:

My test GL dataset has a Fiscal Year start of Sept. 1st. I'm not certain if that is good news or bad news for you!

In theory that should have displayed the problem with the import!

In any case, the situation where we were able to replicate the problem has been fixed and will be released very soon.
