For many of our Canadian users who need to modify their tax tables in OE for HST handling, you may get a message that Day End needs to be performed before you are able to make changes to the tax tables. But after running Day End, attempting to edit a tax table gives the same message.

The problem is that one or more invoices have been posted with a date in the future, and Day End does not process these. Therefore the flag to allow editing tax tables is not reset.

The solution in this case is to run Day End Processing in OE again, but forward-date the processing date to sometime in the future, perhaps moving the year to 2020 or 2030. This will process all invoices and thus allow editing of the tax tables.

To prevent accidental posting of future-dated invoices, you may want to enable the 'Verify closed periods' option in the company profile. This will give an additional warning or even a prevention if an incorrect date was entered for a future year. This option is available in most Adagio programs at the current version.

I was getting a Similar error however since it was the 1st of july and changes need to be done i did them anyway. I was still able to edit the tax tables and make the necessary changes so I ignored the message that I need to purge the tax tracking or summary since I already did that. And yes I do have 2 furture invoices that have not been clear off due to a key punch error and wrong date was put in. Will this cause a problem that I ignored the message down the road and Should I still try to run future date day end to fix the this for next time?

The fact that you were able to edit tax tables indicates that the post-dated invoices in question have already been dealt with by Day End. You should be fine.

The tax reports may have 'merged' information from tax tables and Day End, depending on the timing of purging the reports before and when the tax table edits were made. You may want to preview one or both of these reports to ensure what information gets printed (ie any invoices prior to July 1, or not).
