Hello,

I have imported a detail batch into GL from an excel file. I am using description 1 and description 2 fields each set at 40 character length.

When I import my file, the full descriptions are not imported even though they are shorter than the 40 character limit.

Example:
Description 1 - ALLOCATE BUILDING INSURANCE PREMIUM
Description 2 - STORE/SWIFT ST. - STREETLINK

When I import this transaction, the information that imports is as follows:
Description 1 - ALLOCATE BUILDING INSURANCE P
Description 2 - STORE/SWIFT ST. -

Any idea why the full descriptions are not importing and how I can change this?

Thanks very much,
Tanja

Try ensuring that the columns display the full text - use the Column auto-fit function in Excel. If the column is too narrow and doesn't show the entire text, this could result in truncated text.

Ah, thanks very much. The problem wasn't that I had hidden text, but that I didn't have the column in Excel set to a fixed width of 40. I have set column width in Excel for both description fields and Adagio now imports the full descriptions.

Is there any way to change the field lengths when running reports (i.e. batch listing)? As the fields get cut off in the batch listing preview, I have to go into the batches to see how much of the description fields are actually being captured in the batch. It seems that while the batch itself can support 40 characters in each description field, the batch listing report supports a lesser number, thereby cutting off some of the information.

Thank you!
Tanja

Don't have everything in capital letters. These take more space than lowercase letters. You can use te =LOWER("text") function in Excel to convert the case of your descriptions.

And besides that, all UPPERCASE is more difficult to read.
