Good day to you all,

We are trying to get the help function to work on the financial reporter but it appears that there is a file missing ...

Any help would be appreciated!

Version? If you've installed V9.0 and left V8.x around, then only one can be available on the F1 key. The other will have to be made a shortcut on the desktop?

Hi Andrew,

I completely uninstalled everything from everywhere and re-installed everything as documented.

By the way, the workstation install is super slick - great job you guys.

The problem is when we are in the financial reporter tool and one tries to access the help file.

This has been duplicated on our stand alone computer which we used for testing as well as the workstations now all installed from the network ...

Iow, same problem in both environments...

Hi John,

Is the problem that nothing happens when you try to access the Financial Reporter help?

This was a known issue last year where the Windows registry setting to load the FR help file wasn't pointing to the correct place. Maybe the ability to re-write the correct path isn't happening?

There should be a copy of the LedgerFinRep.chm help file on the workstation - perhaps for now you could access the file manually.

What is the registry key that needs to be corrected?

Also, we have accessed the file manually and the tasks are moving ahead so, thank you!

key: HelpDirectory is the location of the local copy of LedgerFinRep.chm

This is required because a Microsoft Windows security update prevents loading CHM help files from a network drive. Adagio puts a copy of all CHM help files on the local workstation, and a path in the registry to locate the file when accessed from within Adagio.

A client has the same problem. Their IT department points out that the workstation in question does not have a key called "Adagio Financial Reporter". Should it simply be added with the "HelpDirectory" key contained therein?

Hi Bruce,

The workstation setup is what writes the registry entry. If a workstation setup was not done, or done while a different user was logged into the workstation, or done where the user has insufficient rights to write to the registry, then it will be missing.

It could also be that the workstation install should have wrote the entry but did not. Version 9.0B had a problem and to our expectation, this should have been fixed in workstation install by the current version.

If re-running the workstation installation for Adagio Ledger does not add the required entry, then you could add it manually.

I believe the entry is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER not HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Softrak Systems\Adagio Financial Reporter

I bet it is there if the Financial Reporter was ever opened on that machine.

The HelpDirectory key might be missing or pointing to the wrong folder.

It should point to C:\Softrak\Ledger in a standard install

However, on another of my machines with a full Ledger install it is in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Softrak Systems\Adagio Financial Reporter

Hi Michael:

On my own computer, I find the "Adagio Financial Reporter" key under both HKLM and HKCU. However, only the HKLM version has the Help setting.

But my computer only has full Adagio installs, never a workstation install, if that makes a difference.
