All of a sudden, I can’t print to file the GL posting journals in excel. But no problem to print other journals or reports.
Integrity check was ok. Help!

What happens when you attempt to print this report to file?
What version of Ledger is installed?

Ledger 9.0B (091110)

The file goes to the folder alright. But no data was saved in there. Zero KB.

I can save file in Pdf and Word. Just no Posting Journals in Excel.

Why are you saving your posting journals in Excel?

Why not?
Files saved in Word look messy (for some reason).
The journals look better in excel.
But I just love the new PDF!
Anyway I would like to know why files can't export to Excel.

Hi Fong,

When I use Adagio Ledger version 90B or 90C to print the standard Posting Journal report and selecting Excel as the file type to print to, I have no problem in generating a non-zero size file that contains all the expected information.

There is something particular that is happening there - we are not preventing the ability to print reports to the Excel file format.

Adagio Ledger on it's own does not print to a PDF format - just Excel, Word and HTML. Are you using the add-on program 'PDFdocuments for Adagio'? You are probably better off printing to PDF rather than Excel, especially if all you are doing is storing reports electronically and aren't editing.

Sending a report to Excel results in the information getting to Excel but the formatting is not preserved. You should only send the data to Excel if you need to perform some kind of manipulation on it. If all you are doing is keeping an electronic copy of the posting journal for archival purposes, then you don't need any of what Excel has to offer, so it is the wrong tool to use. You are much better off using a PDF printer for this purpose.

What version of Excel are you using to view the file? What version of Excel are you choosing to export to?
