Is there a way to set this to more than 2 decimal places?

If you mean the qty on hand for an item, then no. Legacy compatibility issues with some other software...

Pricing is carried to 6 decimal places and depends on the Unit of Measure. You can expose the additional places by editing the properties of the invoice/credit note unit price fields.

Andrew:

How to you get pricing to 6 decimal places when the progarm will only store 2 decimals (the number based upon currency code)?

If you are refering to fooling the system by changing the stock by each/price by each to stock by hundreds/price by hundreds this would work if I could get the fractional quantity to three decimal places, which I can't.

Trying another approach;

lumber is sold @ $128/1000 feet (which is the standard for lumber).

If I stock by foot my price is $0.128 (not doable due to the fact that I can only store prices to 2 decimal places).

If I stock by 1000 feet and then sell 5 feet I need a fractional quantity of .005 (also not doable due to the fact that I cannot use a fractional quantity with more than 2 decimal places).

I could stock by 100 foot units and make it work but this would likely be confusing to the users whole are use to thinking in terms to 1000 feet.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Alternate Price Lists allow up to 6 decimals for unit price. No fooling necessary, and the Extended Price will naturally still be 2 decimals (or whatever the currency allows). You have to select this Price List for that item in order to allow the $0.128 per foot.

The quantity decimals is limited to 2 decimals. You are correct that you cannot order 0.005 units.

The stocking and pricing units don't have to be the same. You can stock in 1000's and sell in 100's. This of course may not be preferable, but it is doable. You can't sell in 1's because the Unit of Measure conversion would have to be 0.001 and currently there is a minimum cap of 0.01.

Now I see where this feature is hidden. You have to go to the second tab first, change the number of decimal places there, and then go back to the first tab to enter the unit price to 6 decimal places.

Although this works and is the preferred solution, it is still not ideal because when you want to view the unit price of an item, you have to remember to switch to the Alt Prices/Costs tab, and the most recent cost and certain other cost fields carry out to only two decimals.

Steve:

I agree it's not ideal. At least it is a workable solution for the sales team.
