I have Adagio installed on a Windows XP Pro computer.
Payables, LANPAK, and Ledger.

The C:/ is shared as S:/

I also have a Linux server (domain.com) that has the C:/ of the XP Pro Computer mounted via samba in /mnt/Barb and is shared out as C

On the clients ( windows xp ) I have successfully mapped the S:\ to //domain.com/C
I can view, copy, delete, files in the S:\ from any client, but when I try to launch Ledger or Payables, I get Unable to write to S:\SOFTRAK\System\MENUS.INI
I press ok and another error pops up Unable to write to S:\SOFTRAK\Ledger\LEDGER.INI

It seem only the applications do not have write permissions to the files.
I can open the S:\ and open MENUS.ini in notepad, and make a change and save it back.

how can I fix this

Adagio requires All Rights to all files in ..\Softrak folders including the sub folders and welll as ..\QRASP

Try CHMOD 754 on the two INI files for a start and let me know

I did the CHMOD thing. Even set the files to 777.. still no luck.

Just to be clear.

The server that Adagio Ledger, and Adagio Payables is installed on is Windows XP Pro. Will call it the Windows Server.

On this Windows server we have the C:/ shared out.

We also have a Linux server that has access to the outside world.
I have mounted the Windows Server C:/ as /mnt/WindowsServer/C

I have then Shared out /mnt/WindowsServer/C as C:/ using Samba.

The clients are Windows XP Home, and they have the mapped their this drive as S:/ \\LinuxServer\C

The clients can authenticate the share and connect.
We can open the files on using notepad, and we create new files, we can save the files and save the changes.
All other applications seem to work flawlessly.

Adagio Ledger will still fail with S:\SOFTRAK\Ledger\LEDGER.INI
and payables outputs a similar error.

I even setup a new client, with the same mapping and rand the allwrkstaion setup file, and successfully installed the applications. But again when I try to launch the applications I get the same error.

Perplexing.

May be in left field here. When Adagio was first installed, was it installed to C:\softrak or s:\softrak? I think this makes a difference when INI files are read.

Installed on the server in S:/Softrak

The Windows server C: was shared as S:/ when initially setup.

come to thing of it, when the server was rebuilt recently and the software was upgraded and reinstalled, not sure if we installed on S:/

Might have been directly to the C:/
