Hi, I posted a batch to the GL and came back to an error message on the screen. 'Incomplete posting. Only Data Integrity Check wil be available.' I run the DIC and no errors come up. I cannot access anything else in the GL. Help, what do I do?

Thanks, Brenda

Hi, Brenda,

When you click on Check, no errors are reported? Are there any other messages? Does the Rebuild button present itself? If it does and you have a current backup of the data, click the Rebuild button and see if the DIC is able to repair the data problem(s).

By the way, which version of GL are you running? Do you know the release date?

Hi, we are running 9.0A(080704). No errors are found by the DIC and no other messages are displayed. The rebuild button does not present itself.

Thank, Brenda

Hi Brenda,

What is supposed to happen in this situation is that if a DIC finds no errors, then all function access becomes available. There is a 'flag' set that posting failed and an integrity check is forced. Perhaps try closing and re-opening Ledger, and run the DIC again should you get the same 'only DIC is available' message.

There is a section in the GLWININI.xxx data file called '[Force DIC]', which will have a value for 'Force now' equal to 1 if Ledger is expecting you to do a DIC and will give the message that you indicated. If you edit this file (with notepad), what do you see? I am not recommending you to change anything, just indicate what you see. If you see 1, then the same message will appear. It has to be 0 in order to get your access back, and DIC should be setting this. If you manually change this to get going, you risk further damage.

Do you recall if you had any other functions open in Ledger when you posted the batch which failed? Any other functions open in other Adagio programs?

Hi again, Brenda,

Thanks for the information regarding the version(release date) of GL you are using.

The fact that you received an incomplete posting message is indication that you will need to restore your data from a prior backup. Your only other option is to have a database repair done.

As indicated in our prior post, it is not recommended that you change the setting in the GLWININI.xxx file as your posting was incomplete.

We are interested to know the answers to the questions in our prior post.

Hi, I checked the GLWININI.xxx file and the Force Data = 0. The same error message comes up and I have access only to DIC - which finds no errors.

Thanks, Brenda

Hi Brenda,

A fixed file has been sent back to your Adagio partner. The message had nothing to do with the Force DIC (which does the same thing but not in this particular situation). Based on the GL data we saw, we cannot say why the problem occured during posting - for the next while when posting in Adagio Ledger, make a backup of the data prior to posting in case this re-occurs.

There were a large number of GL data files that had the same date and time, more recent than the GL global file. Did you attempt to restore data files into your live data after the posting problem occured?
