Can we set backup to do automatically every day or do we have to continue to do "manually"?

DataCare can be configured to do a backup of your data before it proceeds with the Integrity Check step. When you create a Job, you determine on a module-by-module basis whether that module will be backed up. The result will be a single ZIP file containing the modules that you select. You can determine where you want to place that ZIP file and how long you want to keep it (i.e. you can say "keep the last 5 and delete any older ones").

But just to be clear on terminology. These backups are not a replacement for a proper backup process where the hard drive is backed up to tape or disk on a daily basis. You still need a reliable way to backup all of your data and store it safely.

We have a Back Up scheduled every day, Monday - Friday at 6:15 pm (after day end is complete and everyone has gone for the day). In DataCare, create the Job you want (you can set your job up to back up only or a back up followed by an integrity check or just an integrity check). Then, in Scheduled Tasks create a task to run the job on whatever schedule you want using the job name. We use this command line: \\srvsbs\ACCPAC\SOFTRAK\DCWIN\dcwin.exe /uSYS /PSYS /d\\srvsbs\ACCPAC\data /edat /rBACKUP /q In this case the job is called BACKUP.

It works great. If the computer you're running the task from is connected to a server, don't log out or the task won't run. Lock the computer instead.
