When entering a stock transfer in Adagio Inventory 8.1A (080829):

1. Can we disable the "To item number"? We would hate for someone to accidently transfer stock from one item code to another. We have approx 5000 item codes on our system and it's difficult enough to keep the product accurately on the correct codes without having this option available when they are transfering stock from one warehouse to another.

2. When we enter an item to transfer, can we set it to auto open a New Item each time we click okay on the last item so that we don't have to click "New" or hit "Alt N" every time? Our stock transfers contain between 30 and 50 item transfers per day and we need fast easy entry.

3. Will Softrak be developing some sort of reporting within Adagio Inventory for stock transfers to provide paperwork for shipping? Product cannot leave our warehouse without paperwork that needs to be signed for proof of delivery. We currently export the transaction history of the stock transfers into Excel then delete the cost columns and format into usable paperwork for the delivery driver. With the transaction history as our only means of producing paperwork, we have to carefully time our stock transfer entries to ensure that we don't duplicate paperwork. Will there be a better way in the next update?

Hi Susan,

1) No, there are no 'entry templates' for transaction entry in Adagio Inventory, to allow skipping or disabling particular fields. In this particular case, the 'To item number' does get pre-filled in, but there is nothing to disable editing the field. I can enter this as a suggestion.

2) No, there currently isn't an 'Auto add entry' option in the File / Options screen for Adagio Inventory, to give the behaviour that you are looking for. I can enter this as a suggestion.

3) Are you looking for a specification designer to print stock transfers (or other transactions such as adjustments)? I'm not aware what future plans are for reporting on IC transactions such as this. If we were to implement this, how would you ideally envision this to work?

Adagio GridView can be used to read the data in the Stock Transfers file, prior to posting. Use the 'I/C Stock Transfers' table. This could be exported to an Excel spreadsheet (as you currently do, but with only the columns you require), and a Word mail merge document could be set up to read this file (to make it presentable without having to edit it).

Or if you have Crystal Reports for Adagio, you could create the quality report directly on the IC Stock Transfers posting journal file, to avoid the intermediate Excel step.

I guess we didn't have any 'aha' answers for you today...

Hello,

I'm definitely with Susan on the "Paperwork for Stock Transfers" point. I have had several requests from end-users wanting to produce Stock Transfer Requisitions from the system.

The below is an excerpt from a post I made in response to a different issue but still relevant to the "paperwork for stock transfers" issue. Not sure how well it was received by the R&D team but no harm in trying again.

------------------------

Because the volume of locations is much smaller, we handle Consignment Sales all within the same company. We create the multiple Consignment Locations but rather than use orders for the consignment orders, we enter them as transfers to the appropriate locations one time.

When the actual sales are determined, we enter these as orders/invoices from the respective consignment locations.

It would be helpful if we could print a Consignment Delivery Note from the Stock Transfer transaction that would essentially show the information in much the same format as an invoice with quantities, descriptions, the selling price (this might be a challenge) and a total. The spec. form would allow the various blurbs about damaged/missing goods etc. and allow for a customer received signature.

Actually, maybe it would be easier to implement as an order processing-like function that doesn't invoice, doesn't commit stock, just creates "Transfer Orders" that allow Order Confirmation-like documents to print as the Consignment Delivery Note and when the "Create Transfer" button is pressed it creates a Stock Transfer From and To the supplied Locations. Once one of these Transfer Orders has been transferred, that's it, it's complete and can't be edited or transferred again. Of course you could copy to a new Transfer Order rather than creating from scratch the next time around. I would guess that one would want to be able to import Transfer Orders.

In our case, some clients use the Physical Inventory Stock Count reports to periodically check the Consignment Location and bill for what ever is missing.

Maybe the above would be useful as a Stock Requisition type process as well so that internal requests for stock could be keyed and printed by those requesting the stock and handed to the stock clerk for processing. Stock clerk would bring up the request/order, pull the stock, edit appropriately and issue/transfer. In this case it seems like security enabling a person to key the request but not "issue/transfer" the stock would be required.

OK - just thinking aloud, sorry to have taken your time if this is way off base.
------------------------

While it need not be as extravagant (in the first version :-) as some of the suggestions above, some type of form type paperwork would be nice.

Regards, Pete

Hi Peter (and Susan),

Better handling of stock transfers is on our list for Inventory. However, we'd really like to get AR 9.0 out the door first.
