Since starting a new fiscal year using Adagio GL 8D, when printing a trial balance with include inactive accts deselected: Certain accts (with activity and zero balances) are not printing. Other accts with zero balances are printing.

Would really appreciate assistance on this as I do not want to print all accts from now on(including inactive)-I just want all active accts to print. Thanks

Hi Jen,

The 'definition' of an 'inactive' account in the Trial Balance report is a 0.00 current balance. This is why you don't see the account printing - if the transactions net to zero then it will not print on the Trial Balance report. It will print on the Detail Listing report - which considers an inactive account only with both a zero balance AND no transactions existing.

In Adagio Ledger 90A, you can mark accounts specifically as Inactive and not print these on the Trial Balance and Detail Listing report, separately from the option to print 'accounts with no activity'.

The part that is still puzzling me is that some of GL accts with zero balances do print when I have "include inactive accts" deselected but others don't, and they all have activity.
It's just very recently that some of the zero accts (with activity) aren't printing.

Are you sure that the accounts have activity?

Because you have just come through a year end, they may not have had any transactions in the new year.

Yes I am sure they have had activity in the new fiscal year. One of the accts is a payroll liabilities account and I have definitely posted to that account.

If the accounts have activity, they will print on the report if they were posted to the current year.

Is your data integrity clean? You may need to contact your consultant to have a look at your data.

Also, have you printed the Detail Listing and confirmed there are transactions?

Thanks for your suggestions. I just ran a data integrity check which completed with no errors, and reconfirmed that the accounts in question do show transactions on the detail listing.

Does it seem like I might still have a data issue? Maybe the best thing is for me to just put with having to print all of the GL accounts in the Trial Balance until I upgrade to Version 9?

My guess is that your payroll clearing account nets to 0 in each period. The accounts that are printing on the trial balance have transactions and they may net to 0 in the current period but each period does not net to 0.00.

To confirm, go to Edit Accounts and view the accounts in question.

This has not been changed in 90A Ledger. I have added a suggestion for a future release.

Thanks for the explanation and your assistance :-) I now see that if I view the accounts through Edit Accounts as opposed to a Detail Listing, it shows that the other zero accounts that are printing have balances in other periods.
