I have verified this AI 8.0A and I assume AR 8.0B. The pdf file properties of either the Invoice.pdf or the Statement.pdf have the Acrobat Document Properties" - "Window Options" set for "Resize window to initial page".

I don't know who is right and who is wrong but this is driving me crazy because I have to add pages to all invoices manually and in Acrobat 8.x the window starts squeezed and is difficult to work with unit I reset the check mark for "Resize window ...".

I have a workstation with Acrobat 6.x and another with Acrobat 8.x. Using these 2 stations, I found and determined the difference and the cause. My guess is that in 6.x that flag was not working correctly and they fixed in 8.x. This also may be upsetting to my customers who open the emailed pdf if they are running 8.x.

Suggestions please.

Hi Kay,

What is wrong with the form if they open it in V8.x?

It is squeezed horizontally. It is full highth vertically but about 25% wide horizontally.

These are the generated pdf's from the Adagio email to "queue" process.

Hi Kay,

Just the viewing pane or the document itself? Does the PDF print properly?

There is nothing wrong with the document. It is just the viewing pane. The document prints just fine.

When I open an Invoice in 8.x the magnification is less than 40% caused by squeezing the right edge to some point(I don't know what that is). I close the document, no save, and open the same document on 6.x and it opens more than 95%.

Here is my normal invoice processing procedure: I open the Invoice.pdf, open the page frame, open my additional pages document (usually a signed PO), drag the additional pages to the original invoice document, and save the original document ready for SEND to the customer. For 8.x, after opening the document, yes I can drag the window wider but then my customer may have a problem when they open the document if I save with the original "Resize" flag set.

I have searched through all the Acrobat options and can find no other option or setting that may be set incorrectly in V8.x. I will admit that am NO expert in Acrobat just a user. Again, my assumption or best guess is that Acrobat fixed something 8.x that was not working correctly in 6.x. The check box appears to be the same in both.

I am not a developer so I don't know the requirements to create a compatible pdf file. I am just trying to protect my customers from frustration in opening the file and having it small and unreadable. I am assuming they will get a small window if I don't touch the pdf file, as in AR statements (I don't update these).

Hi Kay,

If your customers are sophisticated enough to deal with e-mailed invoices and other documents, they're probably sophisticated enough to re-size the window if it open in an unexpected size.

What happens if you open it in Adobe Reader (not Acrobat)? Many of your customers may only have V6.x and so may never notice. Perhaps we'll wait until one of your customers makes a comment - we have changed nothing at this end, and we think it is unlikely that we have any control over this setting in any case.

Thanks for all your careful sleuthing. Isn't Saturday a day of rest?

Sorry, I don't have Reader not the time available to continue the testing. As I said in the original POST, I believe Acrobat may have corrected the use of the "Resize" flag. In building the document, somebody set up the "Properties" - all they need to do is NOT turn on the "Resize" flag.

Neither is Sunday until my kids force me to retire for which I have absolutly no plans. This also happens when you work for 2 of your kids in 2 different companies in 2 different cities - but I love the challenge.

Issue is temporarily closed until somebody/customer complains.
