We have been using a product called Reportmaster (made by Softline, if I remember correctly). I hate it because it's so unintuitive, but one of the cool things it does it that I'm not limited to pulling data from a single table (e.g. Order Header), but can also pull data from the Order Detail table, even A/R table and combine that data all into the same report.
My question: Is this prossible using GridView? If not, would I have to use Adagio Crystal Reports in order to accomplish this?

For instance, I have a Reportmaster report I need to somehow recreate in Adagio - either using GridView (preferably) or in Crystal. That report pulls information from several different tables from several different modules.

Can this be done? If so, how? I seem to only be able to select a single table. I know linking views may be a workaround, but we would have muliple views, which we would then have to export and combine in a single Excel file. It would be nice if I could somehow create that single report in GridView.

Regards,

Andre

You are not able to "link" tables in Gridview. However, GridView does have "Composite Tables" that combines tables into a single View.

You mentioned "...pulls information from several different tables from several different modules". Knowing what tables from what modules would be helpful

Hello Andre,

Can you tell from the Reportmaster report what tables you are drawing the information from? If you could list the tabls (or fields), then we can probably point you to the right table.

When you create a new View in GridView, one of the the modules you can select to report on is titled something like Adagio {Composite Tables 8.0C}. This has common files combined into a single table. For instance, there are composite tables for AR Customers and their transactions, Order/Invoice Lines and their headers (and customers and inventory items).

If you cannot find the linkings that you need, just post the fields here and we can sometimes produce a specific "composite table" for you.

Cool! Composite tables helped. I was able to create one report using composite tables. I don't think they really get mentioned in the manual. I didn't know what they were and so I never selected one of them.
Anyway, I'm in the midst of rewriting a lot of our Reportmaster reports using GridView. I have a feeling composite tables won't be the solution for all of my reports, but this definitely helps. I'll post the fields and tables if I get stuck with a report. Thanks for the offer to possibly create specific custom tables.

So far, I love GridView!

Thanks again!

Andre
