We have other software that was designed to export a batch to ACCPAC plus ledger and so it does work to import into the Adagio ledger. It creates a cash receipts batch, but it can't summarize by deposit so it is creating an entry for every separate cash receipt and "invoice". I have mentioned this to the other software manufacturer but their response to me was that ACCPAC for Windows would summarize it, i.e. they're not going to make any changes.

If however I could consolidate in the bank account by date it might help. It would need to keep the date, right now I notice when consolidating it uses an end of the month date. Or any other ideas on grouping these items to match the daily bank deposit so the deposits can still be easily reconciled with the bank statements? It would also be good if it kept the reference field and possibly only consolidated items with the same reference field (as an option when consolidating).

Any other suggestions/ideas would also be appreciated. Thank you.

You need to look at Adagio Bankrec.

What does BankRec do that could help. We only have the payables and ledger modules. It's also not easy to get additional purchases approved with our restrictive budget unless I could prove it would help immensely.

Hello bd,

Adagio BankRec provides:
  • Online display of bank balances
  • Printing of receipts (auditable for charitable donations)
  • Single click NSF processing
  • Check reversal without reconciliation posting
  • Electronic bank reconciliation

Also, have you checked out the consolidation options in Adagio Ledger itself?

Thank you for the info about Adagio BankRec. I like the single click NSF and the check reversal without reconciliation posting - that is for a cheque that we have issued and then want to reverse is it? We're not really setup with our bank electronically so I don't suppose we could use the online display or electronic bank reconciliation. I don't know how that would work to help match up our deposits though.

The problem still is that a bank deposit on the statement would group several cash receipts, and the imported data is each cash receipt separately. I did look at the Ledger's consolidation options and from what I can see it does consolidate one batch's entries it uses a month end date, loses any reference (maybe) and the only description is "consolidated posting" which does nothing to help match the consolidated receipts with the bank statement. Am I missing some option in the consolidation?

The printing of receipts by BankRec could be a useful feature too for us, I'll keep that in mind. Do you have to have Receivables to use BankRec?

By the way I love Adagio and I love being able to ask questions, make suggestions, about features or problems in this forum.

Thanks, Barb

Hi Barb,

Yes - the check reversal is for checks issued in Payables. The NSF is for cash receipts processed in BankRec. Most banks allow you to download your bank statement in electronic format. We support QuickBooks, Simply Accounting (both of whom used a standard called "OFX" for their information) and a user defined import template format which handls most other circumstances.

When using Adagio BankRec, the cash receipts are processed there and grouped together into a "depost". The total of the deposit is consolidated for reconciliation purposes, although you can drill down and see the individual entries that make up the bank deposit. Deposit slips can be printed from the batch. The reconciliation process allows you to match multiple entries from the bank or the accounting across to a single entry on the other side to deal with the circumstance where the bank (or acounting system) sees multiple transactions, and the other side "sees" only a single entry.

You do not need Receivables in order to use BankRec. Cash receipts are entered as miscellaneous cash receipts.

Would I be able to import my batch that I import into the ledger into BankRec. If one batch was one deposit, would BankRec consolidate that? Or would it group entries with the same date or reference field? When you retrieve the "deposit" into the ledger will it keep the date and reference fields?
