Suddenly I am getting this error message when trying to import from A/P to TB

"Unable to open file L:/data\APTBTCH>bio; likely locked by another program"

The data and the programs are on the server. No other programs are open.

Any suggestions?

Hi bal,

Sounds like a program ended unexpectedly at sometime with the file locked, and the system still thinks its locked.

The easiest (although not particularly convenient) way of doing this is to reboot the server and all your workstations.

Our technical support department might have some other suggestions before you go to that trouble.

Assuming your company data extension is BIO, the file created by Payables for retrieval into Time&Billing is APTBBTCH.BIO. I also assume the file name you typed into your posting has a couple of spelling mistakes.

At what point do you receive the error? As soon as you start the 'Retrieve batches from AP' function, or when you attempt to retrieve it, or at a different time? This might be helpful.

Perhaps another 'test' for the file is if you can find it in the L:/data directory and if so, can you rename the file? I agree with Andrew that rebooting may be necessary.

I assume that workstation and network rights have not changed, preventing the user the ability to see, read and write/purge the APTBBTCH file.

The program is trying to retrieve the right file (no spelling mistakes). In any case, the data hasn't been moved or changed purposely.

I have rebooted my computer several times. Eventually this seems to do the trick but not the first time and not a "restart" - it has to be a "shutdown".

The rights have not changed.

Thanks.
