I have Crystal Reports and I am not able to connect to the Adagio Database all the time. I am working on a report that is based on Accounts Receivable and my parameter is based on the cash posting sequence number field. Even though the program is at the 230+ cash Posting Journal it only reads up to 142 {?}. When I go to set location it keeps telling me adagio.ssi could not be opened. Please choose again.
Any ideas
Ricardo

Hi Ricardo,

First of all, don't use Set Location - instead use Verify Database.

Second, do you only get the report to print up to posting sequence 142, or is that all you see when you browse the data field? If the latter, then the Browse Data function doesn't show the entire list but the first 100 or so (depending on database size).

If you get Adagio Receivables to print posting sequence 230, then the data exists to print from Crystal Reports.

Thanks for the quick response. I try to verify the database and I get the following:
Error Opening File
File could not be Opened:"ARW10 Posted Cash", at the location: N:\SOFTRAK\DATA"
As far the report I set a parameter field based on the Posting Sequence number field and when I I browse that field the posting sequence numbers that come up are 95 through 143. I had printed and purged the posting journals [up to 95 previously].
Based on what I see - I think Crystal reports was attached at some point to the Adagio database but is no longer conected. If you want me to send you the report and data please let me know.
Thanks
Ricardo

Hi Ricardo,

When Verify Database is run, you always will get a message that the file cannot be found. You then have to 're-connect' the database by browsing to your database on N:\softrak\data and select ARGLOB as the database selector.

The purpose of Verify Database is typically to point a report at a different database file, though you can use it just to make sure you are pointing at the correct data.

Give that a try and let us know.

Your comments about sequence 143 being the last value via Browse Data means that things are working OK. The purpose of Browse Data is not to list all possible data values, but just so that you can identify that this is the correct field you want to use for your report. If all data values are to be displayed, the function would be much slower.

Did that already. After a couple of tries it says id reconnected but when I enter a posting sequnece closer to the end of the list [210] it comes up with nothing and I have a posting that shows that the journal says $10,906.40.
