Good day,

I finally got around to installing the last few service packs today. Now when attempting to open any Adagio module I get the error message "Unable to open ADS.DLL".

Here's what happened in more detail:

I installed the service packs for Receivables, Payables, Inventory, and Order Entry. Somewhere between one of these installs I know I opened a module to look something up(and it worked). I then went to install the Purple V2.1 upgrade. The program mentioned that a day end should be performed before installing the upgrade. I cancelled the upgrade and attempted to open Purple to perform the day end. Purple would not open (no response from double clicking the icon). All of the Adagio modules came back with the above error message. I rebooted (for kicks) and nothing changed. I attempted to reinstall the service packs but to no avail.

Please help!

Thank you,

Lucas

Hi Lucas,

In the most recent release of Adagio Ledger 8.0D service pack, a new version of the database file ADS.DLL was installed with it. However there seems to be a problem with this file, specifically on Windows 98 stations. Thie file date of this ADS.DLL is Sept 7, 2006. We will be issuing a fix for this as soon as we can. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Note that this error will not occur on workstations with newer versions of Windows (2000, XP, etc).

The problem may also occur with the recent Adagio Inventory service pack.

In the meantime to get you running, take a look in the \softrak\alwin\backup directory for the older ADS.DLL file that had been replaced, dated March 23, 2006. Or \softrak\icwin\backup for Inventory. These would be available if you chose to backup files for the install. Copy this file to the \softrak\system directory, replacing the existing file.

For anyone else experiencing this same problem, there is now a fix to the ADS.DLL database interface file, downloadable from the Service Pack page on the Softrak website. Here is a link - look for ADS as the program (at the very top of the product list):

End User download service packs web page

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the ADS.DLL file belongs in the \softrak\system folder, on the drive where your Adagio programs are installed. This file is specifically to replace the one dated Sept 9, 2006 where problems exist on Windows 98 machines.
