I guess I should know this...but

A customer just asked me why the report layout changes when you change the 'as at' date in the report options, even if there have been no transactions between the 'as at' and current dates.

Did Adagio always do this?

Is there any way to get the regular layout in an 'as at' report?

Hi Tony,

All columns but the actual cost are not meaningful when the report is back calculated to the "as at" date. The purpose of the "as at" date is to allow a user to (re)generate the inventory valuation amount to reconcile to the general ledger figure.

Hi Tony,

Adagio Inventory 8.0B was the first release to allow you to back-date the Inventory Valuation report. There are technical reasons why only the Actual Cost appears on the back-dated version of the report, as opposed to other columns (Most Recent Cost, Standard Cost, etc) such as not storing costs by location. Also, Actual Cost is really the only legitimately true value you can get for a back-dated valuation - MRC, Standard Cost, Selling Price could have been edited between the old date and today.

So the answer is no, the back-dated report will only show the Actual Cost. You could modify the existing report or write a custom GridView/Crystal report that uses the indexed History file to get what you want:
(Current Qty on Hand) +/- (Qty changes since the 'as at' date) * (Value)
where (Value) = Most Recent Cost, Standard Cost, etc.

Thanks guys.

I did think of a Crystal Report, but the customer has over 75,000 items!
