Conversion seemed to go fine, now a week later the client says all the AR retainage trx are gone.

Sure enough, only retainage trx entered after the conversion are showing.

Did the Crystal thing on RTAJ and only the recent trx shows. Same report on RTNG shows all the old trx, this, despite that both file are about the same size.

Any way to get the trx from RTNG into RTAJ?

Hi Tony Martin,

I bet your clients have been posting in ACCPAC Plus AR...

From the JobCost Release note:


Note 3: Adagio JobCost is not compatible with ACCPAC? Plus? Job Costing, Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable. Adagio JobCost converts ACCPAC Plus Job Costing databases to a compatible format. After conversion, ACCPAC Plus Job Costing can no longer access the database. After conversion, ACCPAC Plus Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable can no longer be used on the database.

ACCPAC Plus can no longer be used because you can't enter a 6 character job number ... etc...

It'll have to be a database repair.

On re-reading your post - perhaps I've mis-understood. Are you saying that the old retainage transactions were not converted?

It's not clear...I'm pretty sure they haven't been using Plus since the conversion - they bought new machines at the same time...and I didn't transfer the plus.exe file!

The RTAJ file is about the same size as the RTNG, but doesn't give me any of the old trx when I report on it using Crystal.

Is the only difference in the file formats the sizes of the Job/Phase/Category fields?

Hi Tony,

Just so we know where you are looking, what location(s) are you using to determine missing retainage? A particular report, job inquiry statistics, or other places? It may be a report issue rather than a conversion issue, for example.

Hi Tony:

We have a client with the same symptoms. With Warren's help, we have determined that the AR data did not get converted when changing the AR Profile to "Adagio Job Cost".

Do you remember the resolution in this case from last year?

I don't believe there was a solution, but like you said, it appears the history was not converted.

I actually brought one of the client's old machines back on line with plus (it's own copy of the Plus database, not the current) so that they could use it for reference.

On another note (perhaps I should start a new thread?) have you heard of people having their paid AR transactions deleted instead of going to history at year end? (No, they didn't select 'clear history).

Thank you. We are sending the data to Softrak for review.

No, we haven't had anyone lose their paid Current transactions due to Year End. I suppose it could happen if the "Keep Transaction history for xx Days" setting was too low (ie. moved from Current to History then immediately deleted from History).

Just to close this thread.

We have both a solution and an explanation thanks to Michael Mulrooney of Softrak.

The problem originated 2 years ago when the "Job Cost Interface" in AR Profile was changed to "Adagio Job Cost" (likely out of curiosity) and then reset it to "ACCPAC Plus Job Cost".

When we deliberately chose "Adagio Job Cost" this week, the necessary data conversion never happened because AR thought that it had already been done.

Our client's data has been repaired by the staff at Softrak and all is operating correctly.
