When trying to print a listing of a ledger batch I get a record conflict error that reads

The record is in use by "
in window".

Choices are Cancel and Retry - neither of which get a listing printed.

Adagio Ledger data is on a Novell Server and no other user was using Adagio at the time. It was also tried from 2 different workstations (at different times) with the same results.

I tried running Check Data Integrity and the first time it showed the same error, but I continued the check and it reported some invalid departments - that are valid. I tried Check Data Integrity again and it runs through and reports no errors.

Any ideas what is causing this or how to get around it?

Sometimes the Novell server will think that someone else is using a file even when you are clearly the only possible user.

This can happen if Person A is using an application which has a lock on a file, but they exit from the application abnormally (ie. power failure, software crash, LAN interruption etc.). The Novell server still thinks that Person A has a lock on the file and will deny Person B access.

If this is the cause, it is easily resolved by having all possible Adagio users log out of their computers (even turn them off) and then log back into Novell. If this doesn't fix the problem, you could reboot the server.

Try these steps and let us know the results.

This morning all is fine and the batch prints no problem. So it is probably exactly what you suggested, and the lock cleared with staff logging off overnight. Thank you.
