Crystal report for Adagio was setup from WinXP and map to a NT 4 Server drive during installation. On executing the program to open a new file with Adagio.iss, Crystal warns that license has expired and disable using it. Crystal was registered authentically with 2 license numbers 6133280947 and 1280. There is an instant when even XP displayed a message to announce that Crystal is not responding and prompted to send the message back to them. We are thinking of reinstalling and if this is the only option will we have to reinstall Adagio software.

Hello smhoon,

Crystal Reports for Adagio requires two license numebrs - one from CrystalDecisions (now Business Objects) for the Crystal Reports Engine, and another from Softrak for the link to the Adagio or ACCPAC Plus database. Without knowing whether this was a re-install or the first install of the product, it is hard to determine what the problem might be with knowing the specific steps and error messages.

Also, this question is more "Technical Support" than a general Inquiry, so I will be moving your post to that forum.

This is the 1st installation and licensing is performed correctly for both developers. We are also able to print all the various Adagio built in reports functions. Our other installation with Crystal in Novell Server network and Win 98 workstation does not encounter the license expiry message. This Novell installation uses only Accpac plus with Adagio Crystal report.

Hi smhoon,

If the licence number is not entered within the 60 days after installation, then the expiry message you are running into would be the result. The check occurs when first trying to load a database, so you are correct that trying to open adagio.ssi would be the time this would happen. Some files get updated after licencing the program is complete.

You mentioned that installation was done through Windows XP, which will work just fine. But WinXP has security where things installed by one user may not be seen if you log into the machine as a new user. Which login into the workstation was used when Crystal Reports for Adagio was installed? Administrator or someone else? If you log in as Admin, does this work?

From the Windows Start menu, there should be a folder specific to Crystal Reports for Adagio and an option called 'Register and Reprint Registration form'. If you do not see this then it lends to the theory that Windows security is at fault. If you do see it, then you will get the Continue / Register / License / Cancel screen. From here you can attempt to re-enter the license number that has been provided you.

You may have to reinstall Crystal Reports while logged in as the user of the machine, and re-enter the registration or license information, in case Windows security is preventing files from being accessed.

Thank for the advice which we have resolved. In order to design Crystal for users in a Client/Server network, one must log in as Administrator equivalent or as user with sufficient rights to carry out this task.
