We have an old Lexmark 4039 Laser printer that is having trouble printing invoices. The invoices print fine on all the other printers we have using PCL5e but this one does not work so well. At the bottom of the invoice where the words Total and GST are in a shaded box beside the numbers the text does not show up, only the shades box.

Anyone else have similar trouble?

Often problems of this nature are related to the printer driver. Have you checked the Lexmark website to see if you have the most recent driver installed? Also, when there is shading and text in the same space, the printer driver may be sensitive to which it is told is "on top". Make a copy of the specification (don't forget to change the long name under File | Options). Click on the shading and "send it to back". See if that makes a difference.

You can also check the printer driver properties for an option for how graphic images are printed. Raster vs. Vector for example - these settings directly affect things of this nature, but don't ask me to explain the difference!
