I have installed the 6.8B update but cannot see any changes in the financial reporter. I cannot reset the toolbar to see the new buttons. I cannot drilldown as stated.

What could be wrong?

Thanks, Brenda

Hi Brenda,

What is the file date of the ALFinRep.EXE file, found in the \softrak\alwin directory? The new Financial Reporter program should have a file date of May 15, 2002. If your file is from 2001, then it was not overwritten during the installation of the upgrade. I would suggest try rebooting your machine first (to clear everything out of memory), then try installing the upgrade again. It's possible the Financial Reporter was not completely shut down at the time of the installation.

Regards,

Hi Brenda

If resetting your toolbar as per Addendum, page 25 does not work, try this:

- Click on View | Customize
- Select the Commands tab
- Go to the 'View' category in the Categories list, then drag and drop the blank zeroes button onto your toolbar.

Regarding the DrillDown function - do you not get a 'Details' option when you right-mouse click on a particular amount on your financial statement? (You will not get the DrillDown (Details) option if you try this with a column that is a percentage of another column - it must be a column that contains =ADGET or similar function.)

After selecting the 'Details' option from the cell submenu, you should get your first DrillDown 'Details' screen which will include the Period and Net Posting columns with the different Fiscal Periods and amounts listed in between the Opening and Closing balances.

Click on any of the cells at that point, should take you to the second level of details screen, which gives you the posted transactions information columns (Description - Posting - Batch - Date - Source - Reference - Amount). From here, you can select any Fiscal Period you wish to see from the top left corner.

Depending on what Fiscal Period you are in, and how many postings you have done, will dictate the results you get.

A good test is to open the Adagio Ledger Sample Data and try the Financial Reporter there. The samdata can be found in Softrak\ALWIN\Samdata with the extension .sam.

If you still have problems, we'll need more information such as:

- Is Adagio installed on a network Server, or on a local hard drive (i.e. stand-alone)?
- If on a network, did you install the upgrade logged on as the actual User - or as ADMIN? If as the User - did this User have full admin rights?
- When you are in Adagio Ledger, what version, release date and Database source are listed in the Help - About screen?

Hope this helps -

Thanks, I can get the blank zero's button now.

I can only get a detail option in the sample data - not in my own financial statments.

An example of a cell where I cannot drilldown is as follows

=SUM(ADGET("GLDATA.M",$C310))

Hello Brenda2,

You can only get drill down on formulas such as =SUM(), only on =ADGET(), or =ADCREDIT() etc. My guess is that this is a specification that was converted from a DOS spec, as the cell reference is in column C and the =SUM() formula isn't doing anything (it's not summing anything). Remove the =SUM() from the formula and drilldown will work.

If there are a lot of =SUM()'s to get rid of, you will find it faster to convert all the cell formulas into strings (replace all <=> with <'=)>, then replace all <=SUM(> with <'=>, then replace <))> with <)> (carefully), then replace <'=> with <=>. (Note that in the preceeding sentence, "<>" are used just to separate the replacement strings and are not part of the strings themselves.)

This is one of the reasons we don't recommend using converted DOS specs as a long term conversion strategy to Adagio.
