When I run period end in A/R it states that I should print & clear Cash Posting Journal first.
I have already printed it to a printer. Why does
it not recognize this? Is this going to cause me
problems at year end?

Hi H&O,

If you have already printed a posting journal to the printer, did you choose to purge it at that time? If not, you will need to re-print and purge it.

If you did purge the posting journal, but the Period End Processing indicates otherwise, this is not a major problem, but it will require an extra step. The Period/Year End processing functions are looking at the size of the posting journal files, and if they are bigger than zero, the warning appears. As you know, this will not prevent Period End from running, but it will prevent Year End.

If you have a hard copy of the posting journal for your audit trail, you can simply rename the posting journal file in your data directory. The next time you post cash, a new file will be created automatically. The names of the files are ARPOSTC.DAT (for the main cash posting journal) and ARPSTEC.DAT (for the error cash posting journal).

Why did this happen? I can't say for sure, but typically it's because at the moment the user chose to purge the file, the network environment would not let them (rights, sharable files, Opportunistic Locking, etc). You might want to investigate the network setup, just in case.

Regards,
