In TBR, we turned over 9999 batches in December 2001. Since that time we have had at least 100 illegal batch numbers when users try to activate new batch numbers. TBR sets up a file when a new batch number is activated (file name lwt####.hdr and probably lwt####.dtl if you enter any detail into the batch). These files are there for the batch numbers (with a current date of Mar 2, 2002) yet users cannot access the batch.

Hi Theresa,

TBR time and disbursement batch files contain 4 characters to represent the batch number. As you posted, those files are LWT####H and LWT####D. Because only 4 characters are there for the batch number, you can see that the maximum batch number is 9999.

In TBR, there is no 'automatic' way of having the batch number reset to 1. The way this is supposed to happen is that the batch status report needs to be printed to either a printer or a file (as determined by your WSM printer settings). When this is done, you will be given the options to purge the batch status files and reset the next batch number to 1. This is done individually for both the T&D and Billing batch status files.

The maximum batch number for Billing batches is only 999.

The usual solutions to this problem are to either restore the data from a backup prior to going over the maximum batch number, or to have the data repaired.

You might also be able to clear the batch status report as above, and remove all files from your data of the type LWT#### (as they are corrupt and basically unusable). If you are able to then enter batch #1, you could be OK to go. Please make a backup of your data before removing data files and clearing the batch status report(s), just in case something happens that you didn't intend.

Should the above not work, then you will be forced to one of the two above solutions (restore or repair).
