I am looking for a way to parse a string into two separate fields. For example, a reference field might contain "ABCD1234" and I would like two formulae to separate the string into "ABCD" and "1234" which can then be used to sort, subtotal, etc.

I used to do this in QR-DOS but must be missing something in the functions in QR-WIN.

Ralph

Hi Ralph,

Use Subscript to extract the pieces. For example, the first formula may be:

{APW65 Vendor Information.Reference} [1 to 4]

Hi Ralph,

The Mid formulas that you refered to are not available in the shipping version of QRW6.2B. The upcoming version based on Crystal 32-bit do have more Text/String formulas including Left/Mid/Right character extraction functions. They would basically work the same as the subscript formula.
