A client has reached out to me and requested that I submit a feature request on their behalf.

Module: Ledger
Function: Import -> Batches -> Detail (although any import behaving this way)

They would appreciate an option added to cancel an import (after a successful validation) when an import error was encountered. They'd appreciate if this option could also delete the partially imported batch. This option would be in addition to the YES, NO, NO TO ALL, YES TO ALL options on import errors.

My preference would be a solution that doesn't create a batch or import anything until after the Validation passes. I think this would be much simpler to implement and use.

This is after the validation process has completed without error and the import stops at an unbalanced entry for example.

The client has asked to be able to cancel that import and delete the batch in one step from that error message.

I have added a suggestion to the wishlist for a future release of Ledger.

If the entry is unbalanced then the validation should fail and import should not proceed, eliminating the issue your client raise.

I would like to see the following two issue considered for a service pack:

#1 that a batch is created even though the import totally failed.
#2 that validation does not report an out of balance entry as an error.

Doug, I agree. If validation could detect balancing issues that would resolve their problem. I wasn't sure if this was possible thinking of validation of only taking a single line into consideration, but an update like you suggested would certainly eliminate the need for the cancel option they've requested.

I would certainly want the ability to import an out of balance batch so that I could fix the out of balance condition in Ledger.
