HI Support,

Another issue. Did some upgrades/updates for a client. The upgrades were for BOM, Order Entry and Receivables (latest versions) and the latest SP for Inventory. Now when logging into Inventory they receive (all users) the following message:

Error in serial number or install code (3) unable to continue. Reinstall the product and enter the serial number and install code from the download instructions email from Softrak.

Now ironically if they click on the OK button twice they get into Inventory and can work no issue. Also if the wrong install code and/or serial number was entered at the time of the install then I wouldn't have been able to get any further. I checked the INI file in Inventory to compare the codes from the Client list Excel file and they match.

My question is if I have to do a reinstall and the codes are already there how can I reinstall and be prompted for the codes again?

Or am I better off getting a backup of the Inventory INI file before the updates/upgrades and just cut and paste the info into the INI file since Inventory was not upgraded?

Just a thought.

Thanks in advance.

Hi John:

The problem is not in Inventory is in the Addon.

Thanks Patricia. I wondered that. But I still have the same question. Addon.INI file reconciles with the serial number given to us.

So in order to reinstall and reinput the number do I just rename the Addon folder in behind the scenes?

Just was curious.

Update - Thanks to Patricia for pointing me in the right direction it was BOM causing the issue. While the upgrade installed correctly with the codes already given when you looked at the AddOn tab in Inventory it indicated V9.3A and not V9.3B.

So LONG story short renamed the Addons subfolder and reinstalled the software and all appears to be good now.

Thanks again Patricia.
