A client is asking about the AR Statements.
One of their Customers is asking to receive their Statement as an Excel spreadsheet.
Is this possible?

Hi Samuel

That's what the Customer Transaction report does - it essentially prints the equivalent of the Customer Statement, with an ExcelDirect option.

Steve:
The Cust Transaction report is not quite the same as the Statement.

When we run the Cust Statement, we can select: “Outstanding transactions only”.
When we run the Cust Transactions report for “Current transactions by date”, I receive tons of rows with $0.00 Curr. Amount.

We are running this for one customer with a very active list of transactions. It goes on for pages. We do not want to display $0.00 amounts outstanding.

Hi Samuel:

You could do this with GridView, as long as the user never needs to backdate the statement (GV would always be as of the moment). But since this is just one Customer and statements are usually once per month, could you ExcelDirect the Aged Trial Balance report (selected to the Customer) and remove the unwanted rows before sending it to them?

Bruce:

Yes, I could do this. But the client is not as skilled in Excel.
After all, they are primarily business people.
They run their operations with Adagio. They are not consultants and are not looking to lean new stuff in Excel.
What they really want to do is simply be able to run the reports that they need. In this case, their Customer asked for the Statement in Excel. Sounds like a simple request.

This time around I was the one who formatted the spreadsheet to remove the $0.00 rows.
But I have a feeling that they might have to do this every month. And, perhaps for more than one customer.

Oh, and one more thing.
This client is running with 8 Adagio modules, but not Gridview.

Hi Samuel:

It sounds like they need some Excel training from their knowledgeable and respected Adagio consultant! wink You could also create an Excel macro to do much of that clean-up for them automatically.

Well said.
But I think it would be even better if we could generate this report directly from Adagio without any intervention.

Hi Samuel,
If this is for only printing 1 customer statement, you can print a statement to a text file. If it was for multiple customers you would have to print the statements individually.

If a specification was designed to be text separated value, this TXT file would be read by excel without modification.

I have not attempted this, but in theory the current version could do this.

Hi Samuel

The Customer Transaction report will not print $0 transactions if you run period end first, and then select Current Transactions by Date. Unless the invoice was paid subsequent to the cutoff date of the report, in which case you would want to show it.
