It sounds like the check run was cancelled. Have you/they checked to see if the batch is still sitting in the System Checks window? There should be a status next to it. There's also a System Check Runs inquiry you can look at and possibly their applog.
Without data, it difficult to do more than surmise. If you’d like to upload the data, I’ll take a look for you and let you know what I can find.
Also, do they have their Backup Options set to ‘always’ do a backup before posting? If not, it's probably a good idea.
