Hello, I have setup now 2 different computers for a user that are running Windows 10. If the user leaves the station unattended for any length of time the software becomes unresponsive. I read through the forums here and there is a suggestion that AV or firewall might be causing the issue so I rebuilt a station from scratch, put it on a different switch, made sure to exclude all Softtrak from scans and turned off the firewall. Still having the same issue. I have Windows 7 boxes that are fine but want to move up to Windows 10 as that was a driving factor in upgrading our Adagio suite.

Heidi,
Check to make sure the network card properties are not set to "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Hi Douglas, Actually its the IT guy here, Rick. It is Pro we are using. Built-in Defender. I have noticed on the forums that Windows 10 compatibility is an issue. We are using 9.3A Payables, 9.2A Receivables and 9.3A Ledger. firewall is off for troubleshooting purposes only. Our server is a Windows 2012 Server that has been used for Adagio for a number of years and has no issues with Windows 7 clients. Can I call into Adagio for support as I shouldn't need to pay a consultant for a support item that I pay annually to Adagio?

Rick/Heidi:
The likely cause is a setting on the server on how it refreshes drive letters on a schedule during the day. I've had 3 clients with exactly the same issue and the resolution has always been the same. It's not easy to explain in the Forum so please ask your Adagio consultant to contact me.

Rick/Heidi:
Further to Doug's point, Softrak offers 2 annual plans. One is software only (you receive all new releases in the subsequent 12 months) and the other is software + phone support. If you have purchased the latter plan, then you can call Softrak for support at no extra cost. If you have the software only plan, then you can still call Softrak but there would be a cost to that service. Or you could call your Adagio consultant and ask for their support, likely also a billable service.

Our IT guy fixed a similar issue by changing a setting on the server for the mapped drives. The group policy was set to "recreate". Windows 8/10 runs group policy updates in the background and disconnects/reconnects the drive to recreate it. If the setting is changed to "update" the issue is resolved. Hope that helps.

Bruce and Richard have it correct in that a Group Policy needed to be added. Adagio needs to document this and make this a known issue, with the solution readily available as an Adagio Consultant would not have access to make these changes.
So here is the exact fix we applied:
GPO created on server and enforced on affected computers. Computer Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/System/Group Policy/Configure Drive Maps preference extension policy processing: Allow Processing across a slow network connection: Enabled, Process even if Group Policy objects have not changed: Disabled (although I believe this has no impact on the issue, and finally Background priority: Idle

Hi Heidi,
Thanks for providing the specifics.
As this thread and your final post are in the public area of our Forum, the issue and the fix are now known to Google and other search engines, so should be findable if someone is looking for a reason for Windows 10 workstations crashing.
I think that this is the best place for this to be documented.
