While trying to post an adjustment in Inventory "critical error 1011 insufficient rights to create file in data directory" comes up and will not let me post. Using version 9.2A. How can this be fixed?

Have your network administrator grant you sufficient rights to run Adagio. wink

How / Why is this error occurring? I have made the adjustments before without any issues.

Because your network administrator has changed your permissions on your network.

Hi CRR,

The error is indicating that a file cannot be created, either because rights are not allowed, or because a temporary work file needs to be created and it already exists, perhaps because it didn't clear correctly the last time it was used. Since you previously have been able to post adjustments, the latter case seems most likely. I've also seen this error occur when the system database file was too old or had a particular issue (not since 2008), if required dictionary files were missing, or if any data files were accidentally marked as read only or prevented user access rights.

Has anything changed since the last time you posted an adjustment, such as installing any upgrades? Do you recall any error messages in Inventory (or OrderEntry or PurchaseOrders) that might have caused the program to not be able to be closed correctly?

You can try accessing sample data to see if adjustments can be posted there. That can help identify if the issue is particular to the system or Windows user, or if it is isolated to your company data. You may also want to reach out to your Adagio consultant.

Hi, All,

CRR's dealer did some great sleuthing and replaced the existing Adjustment files with new ones and the problem was resolved.

Not sure at this time if there was some specific security set on the original files or they'd been made read only or if there was some other damage but this issue has been resolved.

Quick question....What file is responsible for the F6 smart finder as this same error appeared only when this function was called.....Happening in OE 9.2A (2016.07.07). Maybe if I replace this file it will also be resolved.

Hi, Ishana,

Can you provide more detail about exactly what you're doing when you receive this error and on what or all windows in OE? While I don't have another report of this, I'd like to make sure there isn't an issue here.

The SF files can vary depending on whether only a single criterion or multiple criteria are used. When no one is using the data, you could look for the OEF###'I and 'R file pair and the OEMFCT'I and 'R file pair.

I have a client reporting the exact same issue as Ishana, using OE 9.2A (170710). The error pops when they press F6 on the item code field when entering an order.

Ishana, what was the resolution to this? Or Softrak, can you tell me what needs to be done.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

I believe one reason for this was that a smart finder file did not have the complete pair of the index and random files, either for the standard smart finder search, or the special files used when smart finder has one or more criteria.

Softrak Support's previous reply on this thread, on May 8, referenced some file pairs OEF###'I / OEF###'R and OEMFCT'I / OEMFCT'R. The first pair is for remembered smart finder search results (which are supposed to be deleted when the user associated with the SF search closes the program), and the second pair is the multiple-criteria smart finder.

The solution would be to ensure that no-one is in the data, then remove the unmatched file.
