Hi
I've set up two Balance Sheets in the Financial Reporter. They work perfectly. I had used one of the sample statements to create it. I've added that Balance Sheet to a couple of Statement Groups.

When I am in the Financial Reporter, and attempt have the report(s)- especially the Balance Sheet, dumped to excel, it has worked in several different ways:

1. Opening the balance sheet spec, and hitting the ExcelDirect button - works.

2. Viewing the statement group, I've opened the Balance Sheet, and hit the ExcelDirect button - it looks perfect.

3. I've right clicked on the Statement Group and then hit "Export group to ExcelDirect" - and it works - the Balance Sheet looks perfect.

4. I've gone to File; Statement Group Print; selected the group I want and hit the ExcelDirect button - all the statements in the group, including the Balance sheets (two) are exported perfectly.

Again, that is all while I am in the Financial Reporter.

HOWEVER.....

When I am working in the G/L and use Reports; ExcelDirect Financial Statements; and select the statement group I want, all the income statements populate with numbers correctly, but the two Balance Sheets show up with zeros for numbers.

Is there a setting somewhere, either in the Financial Reporter and /or the General Ledger that needs updating or syncing, or some such thing that will make the G/L behave?

Are these Balance Sheet statements pointing at the same fiscal period? You have the option of current and previous when assigning the spec to the Statement Group.

I've got one statement group set up to print the current fiscal period, and a second one to print up the previous fiscal period.
Both work when I'm in the Financial Reporter.
Neither are working from the G/L.

Hi Marc,

For the Statement Group setup, do you have the setting to choose the Fiscal Period and Year when printing/exporting? Just to confirm that the year and period for the form is indeed what you are expecting it to be. Do you have something in the title of your balance sheets to indicate the fiscal year and period, and is this what you are expecting?

If you choose Reports / Print Financial Statements and the same Statement Group, and print this to paper or PDF, do you get the same results as for Excel export?

There are no additional settings required. I'm leaning toward agreement with Patricia. I could not duplicate an issue when using sample data and balance sheet specs - the forms in Excel had non-zero values.

Hi

One statement group is set up to print the current period, and a second statement group is set up to print the previous period. I've double-checked that each statement in each group, including the balance sheets have the current or previous period set, for that group.

When I try printing to PDF.....

When logged in to the G/L for November 30, and then print the statement group for the previous period to PDF - it is not picking up any numbers for the balance sheets, but all the income statements look good.

I then went into the Financial Reporter and tried printing to PDF as you've asked, it works perfectly.

I've done the same for the current period in both the G/L and the Financial Reporter with the same results - the balance sheets don't work in the G/L, They work in the Financial Reporter.

What version of GL are you using? Do Statement Groups have subgroups?

9.2A - I was on holidays and forgot to do the upgrade, although it's never been a concern in this term

Yes - each sub-group is set up for a specific set of reports customized to the reader.

Within each sub-group, there are several "items" set up to print one specification, with ranges of departments again customized to the user (for income statements). Each balance sheet is it's own item.

Subgroups don't work properly on GL 9.2A from the Reports Menu. Upgrade to GL 9.2B and try again.

Hi again.

I have updated my g/l to 9.2B, and have tried to get the G/L to create a Balance Sheet from the specification I created a couple of weeks ago.

If I use the Financial Reporter, everything works great, both as SYS and as myself. Also, when logged in as SYS, I ensured that my user security settings had "permit all" toggled on.

If I am in the G/L as SYS, using Reports - ExcelDirect Financial Statements, the dump into excel is perfect.

If I am in the G/L logged in as myself, using Reports - ExcelDirect Financial Statements, the statement is produced with zeros in all the number columns.

I'm hoping some creative soul out there can tell me how to get this to work properly.

Marc
