We seem to be getting different results when printing the same form or cheque spec depending on which computer is in use.

For example, when I print a cheques using exactly the same cheque spec as one of our payables clerks, mine print with everything shifted up and to the left. Likewise for invoices and statements.

We have been working around it by adjusting forms as needed for each individual, but it's getting a bit tiresome. We have confirmed that printer drivers are the same on all computers in the office, printing the same forms to the same printer. Any suggestions on where to look?

The culprit is that for workstations that have the incorrect printing of forms, the Windows 'Advanced' Regional Setting for 'non-Unicode' programs has been set to English-Canada, when it should probably be set to English-US. You probably have reasonably new computers where the Windows default is now English-Canada.

I say 'probably' because the real reason for the difference is that the setting on the workstation needs to match the one where the specification was created, and if your check form is based on one of the samples, then the samples were all created with an 'English-US' workstation.

Note that I am not talking about changing the standard Windows Regional Settings to English-US, but rather just this 'non-unicode program setting. Depending on the version of Windows you have, will determine where you would find this setting in Windows.
