I'm just about done revamping our Chart of Accounts, so I now have SmartSheets set up in the Financial Reporter for most departments. I have them all in a Statement Group. How can I print (or print to Excel) all the reports in the Statement Group on an expanded basis instead of a collapsed basis? When I print or print to excel the sheets all print condensed, even when they were last viewed expanded. Thanks.

Hello, Edit each report in the statement group by right clicking on the report in the Statement group window and ensure that the "Expand Smartsheet" check box is selected on each report you want printed in expanded mode. Please see the following picture below:

Great, thank you, I knew it was easy! On a related note, the current 22 individual worksheets in the Excel workbook are named 'Sheet-Consolidated Departments' to 'Sheet-Consolidated Departments-(21)'. Is there a way to specify a name for each of the worksheets so when they export to Excel they will mean something to me and the Managers I distribute the F-S to? Mari

The workbook is given the name of the Statement Group. The sheets within the workbook are given the name of the statement, modified by the department number if they are being printed for a single department (or department group).
If you have a suggestion for a different naming strategy, we'd love to hear it!

I don't quite follow - "The sheets within the workbook are given the name of the statement". The Statement Group is F16 Financial Statements, and that's the name of the Excel spreadsheet, so I follow that. The statements included in the Statement Group though are saved as, for example, 'GL!SS-CFDC Operating.DAT', and 'GL!SS-CFDC Inv Fund.DAT'. Should the sheets within the Excel workbook not then be called 'GL!SS-CFDC Operating' etc, rather than 'Sheet-Consolidated Departments(21)'? Where does the wording 'Sheet-Consolidated Departments(#)' come from? I'm sure it's simple but I just can't see it. With respect to a naming strategy, it would be very user friendly to have the individual sheets named as the name of the statement. That's what I understand your reply above to say, though, which is why I'm not following. If that were the case I would save the statements as for example 'CFDC Operating', not 'GL!SS-CFDC Operating', and then I could easily find the sheet for CFDC Operations when I am scrolling through the worksheets in my 22 worksheet workbook. I appreciate your help, thank you! Mari

Hi EMB,
When exporting a financial statement to Excel, the sheet names in the created Excel workbook come from a combination of the respective sheet name in the Adagio financial statement and the department number selected for the report. The name of the Excel file is the same as the statement group. The individual financial statement file name is not used.
There is a maximum number of characters for the sheet names in Excel. The results you are getting mostly having to do with the fact that the Consolidated Departments text is taking up most of them, and to keep sheet names unique, they are getting suffixed with 1, 2, 3, etc. And the first part having Sheet likely has to do with your financial statement sheet name being Sheet 1 rather than something such as Income Stmt or Bal Sheet.
The first tip would be to change the text for a consolidated department selection to something shorter, which can be done from View / Customize. This would decrease the amount of characters used on the tab name for this, allowing more room for other info. Note that this text may print at the top of statements, so whatever you change this to should also be meaningful.
Secondly, you should rename tabs in your financial statements from Sheet X to something short but also descriptive and meaningful.
Note that if you rename a sheet in a financial statement, that will remove it's selection from statement group items, so you would have to go back and edit the statement group item to re-select the sheet. Not doing that causes that statement to be skipped when exporting, and for me actually crashed the Financial Reporter.
