Hi, I was updating Adagio Payables 9.2A and there was a problem downloading the Crystal (something something) file. I've attached the message it displayed.

Please help!

Oh how nice, now it seems I'm having the same problem described in this post : http://softrak.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/40897/.

I'm on Windows 7 and have sent the information to Rod as was suggested in the other post.

Hi,

The message you received in your first post indicates that the CRRuntime file is corrupt. This is usually a result of a very slow download. The install should have already renamed the bad file. The rest of the install is probably fine.

Try the install again and, if the connection is faster this time, all should go well. If not, let us know.

I tried to reinstall but I had the exact same problem.

Our internet connection is not phenomenal but it's also not outrageously slow.... This is both a surprising and somewhat frustrating explanation. Is there a way to manually download the CRRuntime file?

Also, is this linked with the fact that the "workstation upgrade" is looping? ie after the upgrade has run (apparently correctly), I'm asked to install the upgrade again when I try to open Payables.

EDIT: Sorry for being a little grumpy. I was supposed to be doing my month end yesterday after what I thought was going to be a simple upgrade procedure. In the meantime can I use the old version of Payables that I had? What about other modules?

Hello,

You can download a ZIP of the CRRuntime file from here manually and unzip it into the x:\SOFTRAK\system\CR_InstallCommon Folder, then rerun the install to see if that resolves the problem.

I understand why you are grumpy about this Upgrade not going smoothly. In our defense, our Release Note classifies the Upgrade as "Difficult", so I'm a bit surprised you would install it just prior to completing your month end. Of course, perhaps this just speaks to the good job we've done with earlier Upgrades. Unfortunately, this component is delivered from other company's web sites.

If you would like, run
Code:
x:\Softrak\System\chksys.exe
and take a Snapshot (button is top left hand corner of dialog) and send it to me.

This seems to have cleared up my problem.
I did the system check. I'm sending it to you via email if you want to check it out just to make sure everything is ok.

By the way, I do understand that it wasn't the smartest move on my part to upgrade before month end and that I should've done my month end first and then upgraded. That being said, as far as I can understand, although the upgrade was classified as "Difficult" in the release note (which I read and the content of which I made sure I understood), the problems I was having aren't related to something I did wrong.

Agreed. Not a question of doing something "wrong". With all technology, sometimes it just doesn't work as planned.

Adagio Payables' install detects that one of the downloads did not work properly. Adagio Ledger (the first big 9.2A release) did not check this, and people just found they couldn't print.

This is preferable we think.
