When creating a new job, I can pop up and select an inactive customer, without any warning, even if I have opted to hide inactive customers from the Customer grid. This doesn't seem right.

I think that the customer field should respect the setting to hide inactive customers, and if one is entered, it should prompt to switch the customer to active, or at the very least display a warning.

Hi, Steve,

If 'Active records only' is not selected on the customer grid, you have been able to select an Inactive customer for a very long time.

However, if 'Active records only' is enabled, you do not see inactive customers. And, when you manually type in an inactive customer's code in the Customer field of a new Job and tab, you receive the 'Please enter a valid customer code' message. The field is properly validated.

I'll enter your thoughts for R&D.

Hi Support,

I just duplicated the behaviour that Steve described. I have selected to hide active customers from the grid, which it does in the customer grid. However when I create a new job the inactive customer is available from the dropdown customer list and if I manually type in the inactive customer's code it allows me to, there is not warning message "Please enter valid customer code' message.

This was confirmed using sample data.

Lauren

Hi, Steve/Lauren,

I don't believe we are talking about the same customer grid.

I'd open the new or edit existing job window and, in the Customer field, select the Finder. Then, double click on the column headings for that grid and enable the 'Active records only' option.

Hi Support,

Thanks for clarifying. I was expecting that if you updated the customer grid to show active records only, the grid you pointed us to would be updated to match.

Thanks,
Lauren

Hi Support

This works, but it's very non-intuitive.

I would like to suggest that this behavior be changed, not only here, but in other cases where a customer number needs to be entered; for example when entering a new order in OrderEntry or Invoices.
