The expected close date on a new quote is using 30 days; not the number of days set in the profile.

Suggestion:
When creating an order from a quote, could the expected close date be transferred to the order date rather than using the login date.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

We were not able to duplicate the problem that you reported for the "expected close date" on a new quote. But if you're using security groups then make sure that the "Quote Template" tab has the dates that you want as this option will supersede what's in the Company Profile.

Thank you for your suggestion, we'll add it to the wishlist.

That was it. Thanks for the reminder.

Why does Expected Close and and Expiry Date need to be put in the profile? Everyone must be assigned a group, and since these two fields are allowed 0 values, then profile can never over-ride the Group. Do people actually have different dates for different groups (Super Salesman and Average Salesman smile )?

Just wondering.

Hi Mike,

Security groups are optional. If a company chooses not to use security groups, then all users have to read the date values from somewhere, which is actually the Maintenance / Define Quote Entry Template rather than the company profile. Perhaps the company profile was set up in a time before Quotes supported entry templates - who knows...

When a security group is created, it reads values from the 'main' entry template to populate the security group template. It is your choice to leave the same settings or change them - it's usually better to give more flexibility than less. It's a good question whether sites choose to modify them for different security groups - I don't know if this feature is utilized. It's likely easier for the programmer to have the entire entry template on the security group, rather than read some info from there, other info from this place, and other info from the profile, etc.
