When our client tries to import a bank statement they get the following error:

Access violation at address 008DFE43 in module 'BrWIN.exe'. Read of address 00000000.

When they click on OK and close the import and the BR module they cannot open the .csv file. They get a message that says it is currently in use and cannot be opened.

DIC is okay

I have tested this on our system and I get the same error.

Note: I tested the import both ways (directly from reconciliation window and from File/Import/Bank Statement) and get the same results.

Hi Miriam

Install the 131127 service pack and the 140117 hotfix and then let us know if it still happens.

Hi Steve,

The service pack is installed, but when I try to install the hot fix the password doesn't work.
On the first screen it tells me that this is a hot fix for BR but then on the second screen where I need to type the password in it says:

This version of Adagio A/R TryThis requires a password. Please enter it in the field below.

Hi, Miriam,

I just redownloaded and ran the BR hotfix. At first, I deliberately entered an incorrect password and was told I needed to type the correct one. After responding to the prompt, I was returned to the same BankRec 8.1E Hotfix screen with the password field waiting for me to enter the password again.

When I entered the same password as is published on our hotfix page and selected Next to proceed, the install continued with another BankRec headered screen and I completed the install.

I'm wondering if you didn't accidentally select a Receivables hotfix and used the BankRec hotfix password?

With respect to the access violation you reported, I suspect that if they then close and reopen BankRec they will be able to open the import file again.

You say you get the same error on your system. Is this using their statement import file and data, or are you importing their statement to sample data?

Hi Support,

The error that I'm getting is using their Data & their Bank Statement.

As to the HotFix password, I have tried this a couple of times. I even copied & pasted the password but it doesn't work.

Hi, Miriam,

I see what you mean with respect to the Hotfix screens you sent. This is not what I am seeing at all when I download, save to a folder on my w/s and run the Hotfix.

If necessary, please delete the HF you downloaded previously. Then, redownload the hotfix again and Save it on your workstation before running the HF install again.

With respect to the Access violation being received when importing the client's statement to their data on your workstation, what happens if you use sample data and import a sample bank statement file to sample data? You can test using the SIGNET bank and BRSIGNET.csv file. Do you receive the error? If not, next try importing their bank statement to sample data. Do you receive the error then?

If so, the problem would be with the import file or setup.

If not, the problem would be with the client's data even though you indicated previously that DIC is clean.

Are you doing the import from the Reconciliation window's Import Statement button or from the File | Import menu?
In either case, if the problem is with the import file or setup, please send me the file and data (or at least the file and import templates used, BRIO*.xxx data files).

Hi Support,

Importing the sample bank statement and the client's bank statement to sample data worked fine. I found the error in the template setup and now it works on the client's data. I must have looked at it for too long that I didn't see it.

I have downloaded the HF a couple of times to my workstation yesterday and deleted it after it didn't work, but I always got the same result. I also tried installing this on a client's workstation but got the same result. When I tried this same thing this morning again, it worked fine. I'm not sure why it worked today and not yesterday. Seems like everything works fine now.

Thank you for your help.
