We have an IC alternate price list that is supposed to be 5% less than the base price list. Unfortunately when I create or update the alternate list and use 5% decrease from base price list, I get an amount that is a few cents off from what I calculate in Excel. Our customer is expecting to be charged the amount on the excel list, not the amount Adagio is calculating. When I open the edit alternate price list items window I see an option for rounding, and it is currently set to "no rounding". I thought there were normal accounting standards for rounding to two decimal places for currency, and am not sure why alt price lists would not be set up accordingly.

Can someone please advise me on how to get an alternate price list with 5% decrease into Adagio? I'd rather use the Adagio update price list function if possible. If necessary I can import the alternate price list but it seems like an unnecessary step. I would prefer to do this however than to manually change the rounding method on 700+ individual items.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

HI Kristin,

When you increase prices in Excel by 5%, unless you're using the =ROUND() formula, what you're seeing is the formatted view of the new price i.e. 2.967354 is displayed 2.97. If you use the Roundup option in Adagio and the =Round(a,2), where "a" is your new price, in Excel, the two should match. At least it works 99% of the time for me. The last time I think I had to correct 1 out of 250 items which is pretty good.

I always double check my increases by exporting the new prices into Excel and then run a comparison.

(If you want to save a step , the formula would be =ROUND(OLD_PRICE*1.05,2) for a five percent increase.)

Thanks. I have already used the =ROUND() formula in Excel, and I have pasted values leaving the price with 2 actual decimal places. However I'm not sure what setting in Adagio IC to change. I assume it is under the company profile, round up, and do I say to the nearest 0.01?

If I changed it in company profile, will it change how other things are calculated? Item costs etc?

Thank you

Hi Kristin,

I found some files from when I was doing my evaluation of Adagio. I'm including them in a zip. They show what happens when the various pricing option are set to the different rounding types and round to the nearest x.xx. Each file is title with the pricing option that was used. This was based on a part with a price of $1.30 and a customer discount of 5%. Both 0.00 and 0.01 have no effect on rounding ie 1.30 x .95 = 1.235. Both these options returned a price of 1.24 regardless of rounding method. I expected it for 0.00 but was surprised that 0.01 returned 1.24 when it was set to round down - I thought it would be 1.23. The 0.05 behaved as expected. This all applies to base pricing. I would think that alternate pricing works the same way. We eventually decided not to go with customer discounts but alternate price lists instead.

Rounding methods have nothing to do with item costs. They are only used when calculating discounts or markups.
