Is there any way to have the secondary description show in the journal entry screen? We have one client who has the department name as the secondary description for all accounts in that department, and it would be very useful to be able to glance at the journal entry screen and make sure that the correct department has been keyed.

No there isn't. I have added this suggestion to the wishlist for a future release.

You can not change the detail screen to display the extra field and it isn't available to add to the fields displayed for the detail list.

You can use the column editor to add the second account description to the finder.
