Attempting to apply Adagio Payable 8.1E Upgrade to no avail. Receive the following error: "The file c:\softrak\unpack\ap\qrmaster.qrw could not be opened"

Unfortunately after downloading said upgrade via the link provided by Softrak and following all the instructions, we are still unable to continue due to the above error. It appears that despite the upgrade unpacking within the C:\softrak\unpack\AP\ directory and being able to see the QRMASTER.QRW file that the setup is unable to open this particular file.

We can confirm that the end-user has all the necessary rights and privileges both to her workstation as well as the server. What we find interesting is that the file in question is unpacked and resides on the end-users workstation to which she has full local admin privileges as well.

Any further insight in to this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Workstation: Dell Optiplex 9010, Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Server: Dell PowerEdge T310, Windows Small Business Server 2011

Thank you

Hi, Stephanie,

The user doing the install needs to be able to have enough rights to allow the install to do what it has to do. The file may have been unpacked the user's local workstation as they have admin rights to that. They need to have enough rights to allow the install to do what is needed on the server.

You might want to check to ensure that no other process is holding that file open on the server for any reason as this would also explain why it can't be updated by the install. Make sure no one is has any Adagio modules open and try the install again.

Unfortunately we are still stuck with applying this upgrade. Went as far as assigning explicit end-user full permissions directly to both the local workstation folder to where the upgrade files are unpacked as well as ensuring the end-user has full control permissions explicitly assigned to the required folders on the server as well. Still all to no avail. We then went as far as using our Domain Admin level account, which has full access to everything be it workstation or server, and the issue remains with an identical error message. Have not gone as far as disabling the local workstation firewall or avast! antivirus as we've never had to do this in the past. Any further suggestions?

Thank you

Stephanie:

The problem is not likley the firewall but may be your antivirus. Beyond that we would need to take a look at the computers themselves to track down this problem. Please contact us at (604) 534-4344 so that we can assist you.
