We are setting up some new Report Groups for our inventory items, which will allow us to order more efficiently. In order to code an item to the correct Report Group, we need to know how many times it was ordered (ie how many invoices were produced for that item) in a given period, which we have chosen to be a one year period. We are having a tough time finding the correct report to use to get this information. We have Sales Analysis, and GridView, and I was hoping that we could extract this from one of those modules.

We have Sales Analysis 9.0B and GridView 9.0E

Ideally, our report would contain the item number, the vendor number, the report group, and the number of invoices produced for that item in our chosen 1 year period. Having the number of invoices produced instead of how many were sold, allows us to really know it is an item that is being ordered over and over, rather than perhaps one order of "custom" XXX that we had to get 350 of, on a one time basis.

Thanks for any advice you can give! I really appreciate it.

Hi Barb,

GV acting on your SA or IC data could definitely produce this info. In fact, depending on the complexity of your new Report Group (RG) assignments, it would most likely be possible to not just identify the invoice counts but the view could also have the intelligence to display the new RG that should be assigned based on your logic for doing so. The view could be designed so that both the item(s) and the period could be selected by the user at run-time.

To automatically have the new RG assigned in IC would require the GV-RW module or some other means of writing directly to the Adagio IC database but "near automation" could be achieved by exporting the GV list and subsequently importing it into IC for the update.

In my opinion exactly how to do this falls outside the scope/purpose of this forum and I would recommend you contact your Adagio consultant so that he/she can assist you with the solution.

Regards, Pete

Hi Barb

If you want to look up one item at a time, you can use OrderEntry itself - under History | Items - enter the item number and the date range and it will list every matching invoice, which you can Excel Direct and look at the number of records.

If you want a report for a range of times, one row per item, that's a case for GridView. The driving table will be Inventory | IC Transaction History and you will want to link to the IC Items (1) table (to get the item name and report group) and the IC Items (2) Additional table (to get the primary vendor). This is not for the novice GridView user and it goes beyond the scope of this kind of forum. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you will want to contact your Adagio consultant.
