I'm creating a Financial Reporter report which shows the current YTD total in a given month but would also show previous year's closing balance. The only way I've had success is if I change the period to 12 but then my report doesn't reflect the month I'm running it in. I'm hoping one of the many fields available can provide me with this info!
Thanks
Karin

Is the previous year's "closing balance" that you want for a P&L account, and if so, do you want the amount to be the ending balance in the account or $0.00?

You can find the values and fiscal ranges for every possible code by opening the "SuperSpec" (File | Open Template) and locating the one you need. You can place the string {n} in front of any code to get the value for a prior year (n).

You are likely to want:
Code:
{1}BAL[12]M

I would need to see the ending balance in the P&L account. I've looked through the hundreds of codes and can't seem to find one for a closing balance...Below are the fields I would like to show on the report:

Acct
Dept
Desc
2011 Actual (Jan-Dec 2011)= ?
2012 YTD (Jan-Jun 2012)= Y
2012 Budget (Jan-Dec 2012)= B

This report would be used to help staff do projections and develop next year's budget.
Thanks for responding so early in the morning!

Doesn't {1}B[12]M give you the number you need?

Do you mean {1}Bal[12]M, because that works! I didn't think to combine the two functions together...
I love this forum!
Thanks

As mentioned in my first reply (sorry for the typo in #3), you can place {n} in front of ANY specification code and get that value for a prior year. (If you place {-1} in front of the code you get the value for "Next" year (when it's available)). This can be useful when planning budgets and forecasts.
