I am having an issue with one batch that I am trying to unpost from my current year. When I go to unpost the batch the following error message pops up after it tries to validate the information before unposting the batch.

"Validation of reconstructed batch failed because unbalanced entry in the batch. Accounts in original entry may have been consolidated unpositing halted."

I am using Adagio Ledger 9.0C, and have already gone back and done a Data Integrity Check and nothing showed up there. I had my Adagio rep connect to my computer and he could not see anything wrong. I even went back and recovered the batch and from there everything is balanced. I also was able to unpost batches before and after this batch with no problems at all.

Any help that you can be, will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

Josh:

This message "Accounts in original entry may have been consolidated unpositing halted" always means exactly what it says. One of the accounting in this batch has been consolidated. Once consolidated you can not unpost any longer.

Hi Josh

You should change any account that you have set as "consolidated" to "detail". In today's age of infinite hard disk space and printing to PDF, there is no reason to voluntarily destroy your detail, and as you found out you can't unpost batches as a result.

Your only option is to recover the batch, reverse it (using the copy button with move checked off), and post it.

I don't fully understand what it means when is says and account has been consolidated. As well, when I go to the company profile under edit and then go to options under the tab, the checkbox where it says "Allow G/L consolidation" is unchecked which from what I can tell no accounts should be consilidated.

Thanks,
Josh

Hi Josh

Not under Company Profile. Look under Edit | Accounts. When you edit an account, you will see an option Detail or Consolidated. That's the problem - they should all be Detail.

Steve,

Thanks for telling me where to look. I went through my whole account list to make sure they were all Detail and every account was on detail. So do you have any other ideas of where I can look or what I can do next?

For some reason, the unpost function is not happy with the checks it performs. You can send me a zip of the data and we can take a look. But Steve's first suggestion works from an accounting perspective. Why not do that?

I can do Steve's suggestion but I need a bit better description of what exactly to do as I have not been using Adagio for that long and want to make sure I do the everything right.

Thanks,
Josh

Hi Josh

This forum is best for pointing users in the right direction, not necessarily giving the explicit instructions because it can depend on the exact state of your data.

To recover a batch, go to Maintenance | Recover Batch. Once the batch is recovered, highlight it, click on Copy, uncheck all of the boxes except for Move entries and Reverse batch, and click OK.

You might want to press F1 for Help, or use Help | Readme

Hello all,

Just wanted to say thank you for pointing me in the right direction and I do understand it is not about giving explicit instructions.

It looks like I was able to work around the issue I was having and learned a few new things because of your assistance.

Again thank you for your help.

Josh
