According to the release notes, there is this new option:

Added the option 'Close forms dialog after print?' to User Preferences. Deselect this option if you typically print documents to multiple destinations. For example you print a document to printer and also email it. In this case, if you are printing a range, you will need to select the 'Ask Print OK after forms print?' option and answer No to “Everything printed OK?” after printing to the first destination, and Yes after printing to the second destination.

Why couldn't you have preserved the existing functionality as an option? In version 8.1D, if you clicked No, the dialog would stay open, and if you clicked Yes, it would close. Now, it either stays open no matter what, or closes no matter what. It is illogical that it wouldn't close after clicking Yes, regardless of the option setting.

My clients get upset at these seemingly minor changes which, when processing hundreds of orders, require a major getting used to.

End user requests to keep the dialog open to allow printing, emailing and faxing a form in a single process (when the answer to the question is “Yes”) made sense to us, so the option was added under user preferences. Closing the dialog can be accomplished by pressing the Escape key. Re-opening it requires multiple menu choices or mouse clicks. The user preferences option makes the behavior consistent across forms.

I had the same issue with one of my clients. After a bit of stumbling around we found the options and checked as needed. The client was frustrated because of the small modification with the update. Now she is wondering if upgrades are worth it, so I had some explaining to do.

Hi Andrew

Consistency is a good quality, but choosing consistency over logical seems wrong. Especially when the way printing invoices used to be was logical and you changed it.

Please rethink this.
