Why am I getting this error on import vendors? I've already printed and cleared the posting journal.

Do you have any other posting journals? Including the Check Register or the Check Reconciliation Posting Journal? Perhaps the error is happening because of a posting journal apart from Invoices / Manual Checks / Adjustments.

At the current time, there still is a requirement to purge all journals before a control account can be changed, either manually or via importing vendor changes.

When the account isn't at zero, I used to be able to import the new control account. Not anymore! Now there is no way to change it.

I've resorted to creating new Vendors with a new Control Account and then using Toolkit to combine the old Vendor into the new Vendor. Is there any reason why Vendors accounts have to be at zero balance before we are given the ability to change their Control Account? This is a lot of extra work. Can you change this so we have the ability to change control accounts whenever we want to?

What we actually need is not Control Accounts, but Report Groups that you can define and select from a drop down menu(the same as AR). The only reason we're using Control accounts is for reporting purposes, and AP doesn't allow us to define and select Report Groups. Can you add the ability to define Report Groups to AP so we can stop using Control Accounts????

There is a report group in AP but it does not have a finder (list) attached. Sounds like this is what you really need to be using but unfortunately is suspect that we will have to wait until AP v9.

The reason you can't change the Control Account is becasue the program has no means to create any necessary journal entries so just allowing you to change it creates reconciliation to Ledger issues that Softrak wants to prevent.

Although in theory your reason is correct, in practice almost all of my clients use the same AP Control account for their multiple Control Accounts. If the database is a single currency database, I say let the user make the change and deal with the GL consequences, which are likely to be none.

In our case, we use the same AP control account for all of our control accounts so no GL consequences at all. Maybe Softrak could just give us a warning about it rather than completely restricting the ability to change the Control Account while there's a balance?

Anyway, what we really need is a finder list for AP Report Groups, the same as AR. Is this coming in v9 for sure?
