Can I get an explanation on which files are used to resolve "Sign On" into the data files in a server environment.

Have a situation where we can log in to the "Test Data" but not into the companies official "Data".

"Strange"

If you sign into the test data, can you then sign into the official data by clicking the Open button in the module and browsing to the official data? If so, then you are using a shortcut that is launching a module EXE from a different Softrak Folder and you probably have not set the user up at that location.

All was working fine last night.

I tell you more, got one user in AR module and when we link to the other GL-AR- AP - Inventory- Invoice- Bank Rec- PO while in this module we are getting sign on error.

Will check what you said, but this config has been working for the last 2 years no problem.

Please give me tech tip on sign on and networking files used and path so I can trouble shoot.

I am thinking that the IT guy who manages the server did something last night which I need to undo fast, but I do not want to go probing and create a problem where none existed.

Error Resolved ....

User - Sign On Error -

Seems that the master password file got corrupted, for main data folder (?????).

I renamed "user system file" went back in with ...MASTER PASSWORD...

Just have to re-do the individual users but they can work now.

I suspect because of the server these problems are popping,
worst timing but resolved.

This happened to us a few weeks ago. We had to reinstall practically everything. We never found an explanation as to what caused it. Everything had been working for years with no issues and then one morning no one could sign on. Previous thread here: Caution: Signon Failed

I know the problems with server is at the root of my problem.

As I said before, did not want to go probing and a 10 minute
fix to come into "hours".

Look in your networked directory (X:\softrak\system)

Rename the "Master User File" - (Get Authorized Dealer to do so...)

Then you will be able to log in with user SYS and Master Password.
What will take time is to redo the users and rights in each module, can be done by an internal staff with security clearance.
