I am under the impression that if you delete a customers account that has not ordered from you in the last 6 months or longer, that you also delete the sales history associated with that customer. If this is true what is the proper way of getting rid of old customers accounts without sacrificing your sales history.? Our customer list is getting way to large and we would like to get rid of the inactive customers, please help!!

Why not just mark the customers inactive and hide them from the Grid?

The sales history is not lost if you are running SalesAnalysis and/or keep the OrderEntry or Invoices history for reporting.

We do not just want to mark them inactive we want them deleted. If their history is over 4 years old I will just delete the customer but if they have history from last year or the previous year and you know the company no longer exists if I just delete those then the sales that pertain to these customers is it lost? When we do a report on what each salesman sold in the last 3 years will these sales still show up if the customer is deleted.???

Maybe the Toolkit for Adagio can merge all customers you want to 'delete' into a single customer code. Then you could run the 'Clear History' function for just that 'customer' to get rid of everything older than 3 years.

Hi Gail,

It depends on how you are getting your sales figures. If you are using the LY / YTD figures in the AR Customer record, then yes, these sales will be lost. If you are getting your sales figures from either OrderEntry and/or SalesAnalysis then you'll be OK.

Why not take a copy of your data to your local drive, run a sales report, then delete the customers and run the sales report again to see whether the number has changed?
